We are looking for a Trainee Pharmacy Technician to join our supportive Unichem Upper Hutt team, a place where we work together, look after each other, and care for our community.

About The Role

As a Trainee Pharmacy Technician, you will learn all aspects of dispensary and pharmacy operations under the guidance of experienced pharmacists and technicians.

Your key tasks will include :

Assisting in the preparation and labelling of medicines for checking by a pharmacist.

Processing prescriptions accurately using Toniq and related pharmacy systems.

Maintaining stock control and ensuring medicines are stored and handled correctly.

Helping prepare rest home and robotic dispensing orders.

Supporting pharmacists with clinical services and rest home supply coordination.

Providing friendly and professional service to our patients.

You will be supported to complete your New Zealand Certificate in Pharmacy (Level 4) or equivalent qualification as part of your training pathway.

Hours and Work

Type : Full-time permanent position.

Minimum 40 hours per week – roster includes weekdays and some Saturdays, shared fairly within the team.

Salary Range $25 to $30 per hour, depending on experience and training progress.

Your rate will increase as you complete training milestones and develop competence.

Skills and Experience

NCEA Level 2 or equivalent (minimum entry standard for technician training) or be already enrolled in a trainee technician course.

A genuine interest in healthcare and community service.

Strong attention to detail and good communication skills.

A positive attitude and willingness to learn.

The ability to work well in a team environment.

Eligibility to enrol in the NZ Certificate in Pharmacy (Level 4).

Prior retail or customer-facing experience is helpful but not essential.
