Are you ready to lead meaningful projects that make a real difference in the lives of New Zealanders? As our Project Manager, you’ll be at the heart of delivering change that matters—leading from the front to bring our strategic initiatives to life across Southern Cross Healthcare. You’ll partner with teams across the business to ensure the seamless delivery and adoption of new technologies, systems, and processes that enhance the way we care for New Zealanders. From new product implementations to compliance initiatives and major transformation projects, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of healthcare at SCHL.

In this dynamic role, you’ll lead high‑performing delivery teams to deliver complex projects within our enterprise portfolio—applying a mix of methodologies to ensure success. You’ll build strong relationships with senior leaders, manage risks and dependencies across programmes, and drive a culture of collaboration and accountability. Your decisiveness, adaptability, and problem‑solving mindset will see you champion excellence in delivery while supporting the growth and capability of the wider EPMO team.

Beyond delivery, you’ll be a true advocate for continuous improvement—refining our processes, frameworks, and tools to keep us at the forefront of best practice. You’ll share your knowledge, mentor others, and contribute to building a culture of innovation and continuous learning within the EPMO. This is a full‑time permanent position based in our National Support office.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

• Proven experience leading complex, high‑impact projects with strong governance, structure, and delivery discipline—confident presenting to Steering Committees, Boards, and senior executives.
• Hands‑on experience in Supply Chain or Tier 1 ERP implementations is highly valued—this is a multi‑year transformation project where travel and collaboration across sites will be key.
• A seasoned people leader with a well‑developed leadership journey—you’ve successfully led and mentored distributed teams across different locations.
• 3–5+ years of experience working within a PMO or EPMO environment, driving enterprise‑wide delivery excellence.
• At least 7+ years managing complex projects and programmes across varied industries, balancing structure with agility.
• A natural coach and motivator who inspires teams to deliver their best and achieve outstanding outcomes.
• Comfortable working with Waterfall, Agile practices and hybrid methodologies, with relevant certifications such as Project / Programme Management or PMP.
• Exceptional communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to engage, influence, and present effectively at all levels.
• Skilled in executive‑level reporting and presentations, translating complex information into clear insights.
• A master of stakeholder management, building trust and alignment across diverse teams and functions.
• Confident using Microsoft Office and project management tools to deliver data‑driven reporting and decision‑making.
• Sharp critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities, with a calm, solutions‑focused approach under pressure.
• Strong business acumen, always aligning delivery to strategy, outcomes, and customer value.
• Purpose‑driven and values‑led, with a genuine passion for improving outcomes in healthcare.
• Prior healthcare experience and knowledge of Change Management (PROSCI / ADKAR) are desirable.
• Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• An Agile qualification is an advantage.
