Communication and Engagement Coordinator

As part of our Hamilton City Council team, you’ll be improving the wellbeing of Hamiltonians alongside more than 1400 people, in 28 business units across 20 sites.

Our Communication and Engagement Unit connects the community with Council, working strategically across the organisation to keep residents informed and involved.

About the Role

In this role you will support the delivery of effective communication and engagement initiatives, provide administrative support, and take on independent projects.

Tasks include working with designers, booking media ads, writing stories, organising invoices, and publishing web content across all our communication channels.

Key Outcomes

  • Coordinate communication and marketing collateral and tactics.
  • Contribute to Council’s online communication channels, including updating websites, social media, and media monitoring.
  • Assist in the maintenance, monitoring and administration of Council’s logo and branding guidelines, proactively manage an extensive filing system and contribute to improving internal processes.
  • Support the delivery of innovative and effective engagement activities.

Qualifications

  • Fantastic oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to anticipate requirements and adapt quickly.
  • Highly organised and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • High level of motivation, initiative and proactive drive.
  • Ability to learn new tools and technology quickly.
  • An eye for branding and marketing with great attention to detail.
  • Creativity and passion for engaging with community.
  • Flexible and available to work some weekends and evenings.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field.

  • Salary : Circa $63,000, dependent on skills and experience.
