Registered Nurse - Renal Marlowe Ward maternity cover

We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic person to join our team on Marlowe.

We have a full time, Band 5, Staff Nurse Maternity Cover vacancy covering days, nights, weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis.

This is a fixed term 6 month contract.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role include :

Acting as the identified nurse for a group of patients by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating their care.

Providing personal care to patients including pressure sore prevention, toileting and catheter care.

Taking and electronically recording patient's vital signs and blood glucose and acting upon the results.

Carrying out and documenting patient risk assessments and implementing measure to reduce risk and keep patients safe.

Administering medications via various routes.

Supporting and supervising junior members of staff in giving high standards of care.

Liaising with the multidisciplinary team.

Participating in planning timely and safe discharges.

Qualifications & Training

Experience in an Acute Trust

Delivery of evidence-based practice

Demonstrates patient focused approach

Previous experience at Band 5 within Renal

Evidence of facilitating learning in practice

Evidence of on-going personal + professional development

Clinical Skills & Experience

Good written and verbal communication skills

Able to complete patient risk assessments

Venepuncture and cannulation

Peritoneal dialysis haemodialysis

Governance

Awareness of risks to patient safety

Awareness of incident reporting procedure

Demonstrate learning / changes in practice from incidents

Personal & Professional attributes

Maintaining Confidentiality

Demonstrate compassion

Remaining calm under pressure
