This is a fixed‑term or secondment position available until 30 June 2026.

About the role

The Projects team delivers professional project management across the Ministry. Key responsibilities include :

  • Planning and managing complex projects to ensure successful delivery, including mapping and meeting core milestones and deliverables.
  • Building project management capability in leaders, such as principals, seniors and analysts / advisors.
  • Supporting complex initiatives in the Tūmatakōkiri business group across its Tiriti Settlements, Ministerial Engagement with Māori, Strategic risk and system performance and Litigation Support functions via two teams – Te Piringa and Māori Strategy and performance.

Skills and experience

  • Proven experience in establishing systems and supporting projects that uphold Treaty settlements and other Crown‑Māori obligations.
  • Proven experience in planning, managing and delivering complex projects using recognised project management methodologies and techniques.
  • Capability to provide high‑value enabling services to a range of projects, including risk identification, management and mitigation.
  • Ability to coach others in project management (e.g., senior advisors and analysts).
  • Demonstrated skills in getting the best out of people with highly developed negotiating, influencing and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt within a fast‑paced environment and hold expert prioritisation and planning skills.
  • Salary range

    Salary range : $110,501 to $134,128 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
