Chef - Columbus Café Hornby

Columbus Cafe at Mitre 10 MEGAHornby is award winning, locally owned and has a focus on a fresh, premiumquality food offer that is produced in our own kitchen.

Columbus Coffee Hornby is lookingfor a Cafe chef.

This person will be passionate about food, flavours andpresentation.

They will be committed to bringing new ideas to keep our offeringexciting as well as delivering on the tried-and-true Columbus favourites.

About the role

Part-time role of 24 hours per week, days tbc but likely to include a Saturday.

There are early starts (6.15am / 7am)forbreakfast / lunch service and no late nights.

Key responsibilities

Run daily prep and service to tight timelines(breakfast & lunch)

Ensure our cabinet is full of appealing items and ala carte menu is served quickly and consistently

Maintain FCP, allergen management and site H&S

Maintain equipment, cleanliness and compliancedocumentation.

Assist the Head Chef with forecasting of production to ensure stock levelsare correct and team have a clear understanding of what their day lookslike

What will you bring?

3-5 years' experience in a high-volumekitchen

Previous experience with cabinet, baking and cookto order food service

The ability to ensure consistency of quality,portion size and presentation according to Columbus standards

Experience with all areas of Food Control plans andHealth and Safety

Calm, organised leadership; clear communication ina busy environment

Reliability, speed and consistency

Baking skills are a must as we bake a lot of ourown biscuits, cakes, slices as well as daily scones and muffins.
