Horizon Services is looking for a skilled Protection Technician to join our technical team in Whakatāne or Palmerston North. What you’ll bring :

• NZ Registered Electrician with 2–5 years’ experience in protection systems, SCADA, PLCs, and communications networks
• Solid knowledge of LV and HV network systems, protection design, and testing
• Strong understanding of industry safety standards and ability to work independently
• Manual NZ driver’s licence and commitment to safety

About the role :

You’ll handle maintenance, testing, and installation of protection systems, SCADA, and comms networks — keeping our network safe and reliable. Expect a mix of fault diagnosis, system testing, relay installation, and field support across routine and complex projects. You’ll also provide technical support to engineering and operations teams, contribute to system improvements, and participate in the 24 / 7 on‑call roster.
