Environment Modellers

Weta FX is currently taking applications from Environment Modellers to join our team.As an Environment Modeller at Weta FX you will be responsible for the creation of digital environment assets across all shows.

You'll have proven experience in production environments and be able to create accurate and realistic models from 2d reference, previs, photogrammetry and scan data.

You will also be responsible for handing off models that meet the technical requirements for other departments such as FX, Shaders, DMP and Layout.Our successful Environmental Modeller will : Have an impressive reel showing a wide range of organic / environment models with clean and efficient topologyDemonstrate knowledge and experience using Maya in a production environmentHave experience managing the complexity of large Environment builds and effective use of asset instancing.Have experience with Mudbox ,Blender or Z-Brush.Have experience with photogrammetry processing, remeshing and map extraction.Understand Linux desktop and system commands in order to perform daily tasks comfortably.Be comfortable taking direction and working independently while being an effective team player.Have strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Have excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.Be a clear and confident communicator.Experience with procedural modelling techniques such as Houdini, Gaea or World MachineThe ability to script in MEL and / or PythonAt Weta FX we celebrate our diversity and believe in creating an environment where all our crew feel welcomed, respected, supported and appreciated.
