Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Media and Creative Technologies

Te Kura Toi School of Arts is seeking a full-time Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Media and Creative Technologies.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to teach theory and film / media production in a hands-on workshop environment (including camera, editing and Adobe suite skills), with a preference for someone with experience in relevant creative industries.

A history of academic research and publication will be essential.

Applicants with knowledge of Maori and Indigenous media cultures are encouraged to apply.

This role will involve teaching relevant undergraduate courses in majors that contribute to the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Communication and Bachelor of Design, and postgraduate courses in the Master of Arts and Master of Media and Creative Technologies.

Contributing actively to the School's research culture and supervising research students is also part of this role.

Salary and Employment

Lecturer : $90,125 – $107,452 per year (depending on skills, knowledge, experience)

Senior Lecturer : $110,392 – $128,508 per year (depending on skills, knowledge, experience)

Full-time position (37.5 hours per week) based at Hillcrest Campus

Qualifications and Experience

PhD (or in final stages of completion) in Media and Creative Technologies or a relevant discipline

Passion for and expertise in Media and Creative Technologies

Experience teaching undergraduate papers, including ability to lecture to large numbers and conduct small-group seminars, tutorials and workshops effectively

Evidence of innovative teaching methods, materials, models and virtual techniques

Academic research and publication record aligned with or extending the research strengths of the School

Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and understanding of how research can enhance professional practice and community

Knowledge of Maori and Indigenous media cultures is highly encouraged

Responsibilities

Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Media and Creative Technologies

Develop and deliver hands-on workshops and tutorials

Supervise research students and contribute to the School's research culture

Participate in curriculum development and assessment processes

Engage with industry partners and community stakeholders to enhance learning outcomes

Contribute to academic governance and institutional service activities
