Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora – MidCentral serves over 191,000 people across the North Island, providing a range of planned and emergency health care services. The Tararua and Ruahine ranges prominently mark the centre of the district.

We are searching for an experienced and inspirational leader to fill the role of Pitou Whakarei Māori – Group Manager Hauora Māori. This key position reports operationally to the Group Director Operations and professionally to the Regional Director Hauora Māori. As an integral member of the District Leadership team, the Pitau Whakarei Māori is responsible for offering leadership, strategic advice, and direction across hospital specialist services, ensuring our commitment to improving equity and achieving better health and wellbeing for Māori.

To excel in this role, you must :

• deeply understand and respect kaupapa Māori
• be aware of the equity issues affecting Māori
• have strong relationships within te ao Māori
• have senior experience in the health sector (essential)
• have fluency in te reo Māori (essential)
• have robust connections across the rohe (essential)
