Ora Toa Poneke in Newtown : 0.6 FTE

Ora Toa Waitangirua in Porirua East : 0.6 FTE

Ko te tūranga mahi | About the role As part of the primary health care team the Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) provides brief and effective behavioural interventions for individuals and whānau.

The HIP supports enrolled patients of all ages with any problem affecting their health and wellbeing, including – but not limited to – stress, anxiety, mood, sleep, relationships, lifestyle and managing chronic physical conditions.

The HIP conducts contextual and functional assessments which guide behavioural interventions that will help patients move from unworkable situations towards flourishing lives.

Required for the role is :

  • Registration and current practising certificate in : psychology, occupational therapy, social worker or registered nurse
  • Knowledge of behavioural / functional / contextual medicine and the relationship between medical and psychological systems
  • Clinical experience working in a mental health setting (primary or secondary health) providing evidence-based psychological interventions
  • An understanding and sensitivity to working with all cultures
