The role
We are seeking a talented Intermediate or Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing team in Whangarei. If you are passionate about geotechnical engineering and ready to work on exciting and diverse projects in one of New Zealand’s most beautiful regions, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake site investigations and geotechnical assessments, including fieldwork, laboratory testing and data analysis.
 - Provide geotechnical design recommendations for foundations, retaining structures, and earthworks.
 - Prepare geotechnical reports and technical documentation, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
 - Collaborate with the wider Hawthorn Geddes multidisciplinary team including civil and structural engineers as well as the architect and the building team.
 - Assistance in mentoring junior engineers providing guidance and technical support.
 - Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure successful project delivery.
 - Support project management tasks, including cost estimation, scheduling, and risk management.
 
Required Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree with Honours in Civil Engineering (BE(Hons) or equivalent).A CPEng registration, or actively working towards achieving it.A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, including site investigation, analysis, and design.Strong knowledge of New Zealand geotechnical standards, guidelines, and regulations.Experience with geotechnical software (e.g., gINT, PLAXIS, GeoStudio, etc.).Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team and liaise with clients.Full, clean New Zealand driver’s license.What We Offer
