Associate Software Engineer - TransPower

TransPower is the owner and operator of New Zealand's National Grid.

Our Application Services team ensures electricity delivery to all New Zealanders 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by maintaining and evolving complex critical IT systems.

Responsibilities

Work collaboratively in product teams with Business Analysts, Architects, other software engineers, and Operations staff to define and deliver detailed application design and development to meet requirements.

Understand and contribute to software application architecture.

Work closely with and provide third level support to the Application Support teams.

Liaise with Test Manager / Analyst in reviewing test plans to ensure appropriate coverage and performance.

What will you bring

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and ability to present technical concepts in an easy-to-understand way.

Experience working with application DevOps toolchains for continuous build, integration, packaging, and deployment, and / or experience in both Agile and Waterfall environments.

Strong coding skills in Java, C#, JavaScript, or Python.

Source control experience – preferably Git.
