The ideal candidate will be a team player who collaborates with colleagues, in alignment with OceanaGold's Purpose, Vision and Values.

Macraes is the largest mining operation in New Zealand, and these positions have true opportunity to progress long-term.

They would suit recent graduates, or anyone looking to gain experience in a large-scale mining operation.You will provide important support to our Open Pit mining team by collecting representative ore samples and demonstrating sound health and safety practices, while learning about a key aspect of the gold mining process.

This role involves working outdoors in all weather and can be quite physical with regular lifting of 5–10 kg samples.

On-the-job support and mentoring go hand in hand with the experience you will bring to this field-based role.

7 days on, 7 days off, 7 nights on, 7 days off, 12 hr shift roster.Key tasks and responsibilitiesFollow set processes to collect samples from drill rigs.Communicate any issues relating to the quality of the samples.Assist with housekeeping and maintenance of storage facilities.Enter data and complete administration.Ensure all incidents and hazards are reported.QualificationsHave a genuine interest in the mining industry.Enjoy working outdoors in all weathers.Have a good level of fitness.Be comfortable using MS Office; Excel.Have completed a minimum of NCEA Level 2 or equivalent in Maths and English.Be able to communicate within a team environment.Hold a full, clean, current driver's licence and must be comfortable driving a manual vehicle over rough terrain.Additional InformationResidential role, live and work in the stunning region of Otago, NZ.7 days on, 7 days off, 7 nights on, 7 days off, 12 hr shift roster.Discounts on retail and services.Free Southern Cross Healthcare Insurance.Living Our Values recognition program.Onsite physiotherapist and nurses suite.Free transport to work.Access to OceanaGold Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
