The Role and Requirements :
As the Senior Systems Software Developer, this role leads the development of the organisation’s Warehouse Management System as it transitions from a vendor‑managed solution to full internal ownership. It is the first in‑house development position and will suit someone who enjoys stepping into an existing codebase, making sense of inherited structure, and taking responsibility for both maintaining and improving a critical operational platform.
- Reviewing the current source code and understanding how the WMS components, data structures, and workflows fit together
- Designing and developing new functionality to support evolving warehouse and logistics operations
- Managing integrations across the broader technology ecosystem including automation control systems, transport management systems, billing engines, reporting dashboards, and customer portals
- Bringing structured development practices into the organisation as the internal capability is established ahead of the 2026 handover
What We Are Looking For :
As a Senior Systems Software Developer, you will possess strong technical capability, practical problem solving, and an organised approach to development. Key competencies include :
Experience with Multipick or other Warehouse Management Systems, along with strong knowledge of logistics, warehousing, or related operational environments.Advanced SQL Server experience across stored procedures, triggers, transaction handling, indexing strategies, query optimisation, and execution plan analysis.Strengths designing and maintaining integration flows using EDI, REST APIs, and file‑based exchanges such as XML, JSON, and CSV.Familiarity with middleware, message queues, or API gateway concepts in enterprise integration environments.Strong capability in data architecture and reporting including experience designing logical and physical data models and understanding normalisation and denormalisation considerations.Experience developing reports, views, and data extracts for analytics, dashboards, and operational insightsExperience working with blended Agile / SDLC methods particularly Sprint Planning, Backlog refinement, and iterative delivery plus Secure Code Reviews. Any knowledge of AI‑enabled Code Reviews and AI‑Powered IDEs is seen as a distinct advantage.From a Development Perspective :
