Animal Compliance Officer - North Auckland

Overview

You will work within the Dog Control Act 1996 and Council policies and procedures to respond to public complaints about dog and stock control; customer requests for services including managing aggressive and / or barking dogs, dog attacks, wandering dogs, stock issues; and providing requirements for proactive patrolling and assistance with prosecutions. You will work in the community, often flying solo, with the support of a large team, and assist in prosecutions and intelligence-led proactive patrols. The office is based in Albany, North Auckland; rosters are variable (24 / 7 morning and evening) with on-call work.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to public complaints about dog and stock control under the Dog Control Act 1996 and Council policies
  • Manage customer requests for services, including handling aggressive / barking dogs, dog attacks, wandering dogs, and stock issues
  • Proactive patrolling and assistance with prosecutions as required
  • Operate in the community, often solo, with support from a larger team

Qualifications

  • Current, full, clean NZ driver’s licence is required
  • Public-facing compliance background with strong customer service and conflict management skills
  • Calm and effective approach to resolving situations involving animals
