Role Overview
We invite applications for a Rehabilitation Medicine Consultant position based at Woodend Hospital in Aberdeen. The role evolved following the retirement of a former Consultant and involves providing consultancy input at the Major Trauma Centre in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI) and for inpatients in the Neurorehabilitation Unit (NRU) at Woodend Hospital. The post also entails sessional commitments to outpatient clinics for patients transitioning into adult services and for those with posture or movement disorders, including management of patients receiving Botulinum Toxin injections and Baclofen pumps.
Responsibilities
- Provide Rehabilitation Medicine consultant input at the Major Trauma Centre and Neurorehabilitation Unit.
- Consult to inpatient teams at Woodend Hospital and ARI.
- Deliver sessional care in outpatient clinics, including adults transition care and posture / movement disorder management.
- Collaborate closely with specialist nursing colleagues and Allied Health Professionals such as Neuropsychology, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and wheelchair services.
- Participate in community rehabilitation work where required.
- Contribute to trainee training, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes.
- Engage in research activities within the service.
Qualifications
Full registration with the GMC and a licence to practice (must be in place before starting).Evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or admission to the GMC Specialist Register within 6 months of interview date.CESR or Portfolio Pathway route doctors only eligible once registration awarded.International recognised specialist qualification approved by GMC with confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.Locum appointment possible for up to 12 months for those not on the Register; CESR / Portfolio Pathway registration may be pursued while on locum.EEO Statement
