The role | Mo te tungaThis is a 12-month fixed term role and will be reporting to the Interim Chief Methodologist.As a Principal Statistician, you are a highly skilled technical leader with a deep knowledge of statistics and statistical design, particularly for household and social surveys.
We are looking for an expert to provide further technical leadership to our Methods and Design group, to deliver statistics that make a difference to every New Zealander.
This expert methodologist will : Play a strong role in shaping the statistical design of the next CensusHave deep expertise in household survey sample design and statistical modellingFacilitate long-term benefits for our customers and stakeholdersActively scan for opportunities to apply methodologies (particularly new methodologies) to real-world problems such as targeted solutions for priority communitiesBe a critical voice for end-to-end methodology cohesionProvide coaching and mentoring to methodologistsBring a Maori perspective to statistical methodology and their workThis role requires someone with a strong customer focus, comfortable with ambiguity and change, and sound decision-making ability.
You will have statistical consultancy experiences commensurate with your role, practical experience in Official Statistics and ideally you will have international experience in this field.
