You will also contribute to strategies and policies that address the determinants of health and wellbeing, aligning with both community aspirations and government priorities.
This role includes a particular focus on improving outcomes for Maori and Pacific peoples, supporting local and regional programmes of work towards Pae Ora – Healthy Futures.About the Team / Service / LocationThe National Public Health Service (NPHS), part of Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora, is committed to achieving Pae Ora – Healthy Futures for all.

Our services are nationally planned, regionally led, and locally delivered to meet the unique needs of communities across Aotearoa.This role is based at either the Richmond or Marlborough Health Hub, with the Community and Whanau Wellbeing team.
This team works to improve the health and wellbeing of the wider community by creating supportive environments that make healthy choices easier and more accessible for whanau.
You'll be part of a passionate team committed to helping communities across Te Tauihu thrive, partnering with them to deliver initiatives that bring the vision of Pae Ora to life.About youYou are a relationship-focused professional with strong influencing and facilitation skills.
You work in an evidence-informed way, integrating health promotion frameworks, health data, and community insights to guide priorities and programme development.
Your excellent communication skills enable you to adapt complex ideas for a wide range of audiences.You are committed to achieving equity and you bring cultural understanding and respect for the diverse communities you serve.
You'll work in partnership with iwi, hapu, local government, and other priority populations to drive meaningful change across a range of public health issues — including immunisation, screening, smokefree / vape-free environments, food systems, physical activity, alcohol harm reduction, and mental wellbeing.You value collaboration and are skilled at building constructive, effective relationships with stakeholders, grounded in respect, and a shared vision for Pae Ora – Healthy Futures.Previous experience in health promotion, community development or a related roleDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively alongside communities and wider stakeholdersExperience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangiin actionDemonstrated ability to plan, implement, monitor and evaluate programmes and projectsUnderstanding of Public Health approaches including settings-based approaches, community-led development, systems thinking, co-design and collective impactWilling to travel across the local district and regionClean NZ Driver's LicenseDesired - A tertiary qualification in public health, health promotion, social science, education, Maori studies, community development or a related field or equivalent experienceWorking for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
