Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Early Childhood

We are seeking a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Early Childhood to join our School of Education and Social Practice.

The role involves undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, supervising research theses, and supervising / assessing student teachers on practicum.

You will be encouraged to pursue your own research within early childhood and contribute to collaborative projects across the school, faculty, and university.

You will join a collegial and research-active Early Years Hub, home to initiatives that promote innovative teaching and impactful scholarship in early childhood, such as the Early Childhood Seminar Series, The First Years Nga Tau Tuatahi, and the Centre for Global Childhoods.

This is a full time (40 hours per week), permanent position.

The remuneration range for this role is between $97,831 - $142,883, depending on skills and experience.

About you

You'll be a registered and fully certificated teacher (NZ Teaching Council) with a PhD in education, psychology, or a related field.

You'll bring experience teaching in higher education, a developing research profile, and a strong commitment to research-led early childhood teaching.

A passion for supporting student success across diverse backgrounds

Excellent communication and relational skills

An ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines

Understanding of or experience working with Maori and / or Pacific communities in Aotearoa New Zealand

A commitment to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi in teaching and research
