Position : Territory Sales Manager-Petbarn Australia

Location : New Zealand (willing to work for Petbarn chains account in Australia)

Travel : Frequent — typically every month or every two months to Australia (Petbarn stores & head office) + domestic NZ travel

Employment : Full-time

The Role

We’re seeking a Territory Sales Manager who will be based in New Zealand and own sales growth at Petbarn (Australia) . You’ll lead account execution, run store walks, and conduct regular product trainings for merchandisers and store teams to lift conversion, compliance, and sell-through.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive Petbarn sales : Deliver revenue, distribution, and velocity targets; build door-by-door plans and execute promotions, NPD launches, and retail media where relevant.
  • Own retail execution : Ensure on-shelf availability, planogram compliance, display quality, seasonal features, and ticketing accuracy; fix issues fast.
  • Train store teams & merchandisers : Plan and deliver engaging product training / PK sessions (features, benefits, nutrition basics, selling tips, objection handling); measure post-training impact.
  • Market visits : Conduct efficient monthly AU trips to priority Petbarn doors; complete store checklists, gather competitive intel, and align actions with buyers and store managers.
  • Data-led decisions : Track sell-in / sell-through, returns, and promo ROI; identify gaps and implement corrective actions.
  • Stakeholder management : Be the day-to-day contact for Petbarn buyers, store managers, and merchandising partners; sync with Trade Marketing and Supply Chain on forecasts and OTIF.

What You’ll Bring

  • Territory or key account sales experience in FMCG / pet specialty / consumer products; exposure to big-box or specialty chains (Petbarn experience is a plus).
  • Strength in in-store execution and hands-on training of merchandisers / store staff.
  • Comfortable with CRM, retail dashboards, and Excel / Sheets; able to turn data into actions.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
  • Travel-ready (valid passport) for ~monthly AU travel; full NZ driver’s licence.
  • Must be NZ Citizen with eligibility to work in Australia & New Zealand.

  • Petbarn sales growth vs. target (monthly / quarterly).
  • Distribution / planogram compliance and on-shelf availability.
  • Training coverage & impact (sessions completed, staff trained, uplift in conversion / velocity).
