Community Staff Nurse

This is an exciting opportunity to join a developing service with the Community Directorate.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated registered nurse to join the adult bladder and bowel service through secondment to cover maternity leave for 11 months.
The base for this post will be Innovation House, Bishop Auckland. This is a Countywide Community post, so locality work will be required according to service need. This role involves a mixture of working within clinics, home visits, care homes and office environment.
The post will allow you to work in a specialist service and develop specialist skills / knowledge and expertise in bladder and bowel dysfunction. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of an innovative and forward thinking community-based team. You will make a valuable contribution to the way local bladder and bowel services are organised and delivered in order to provide high quality, cost effective services to people living in County Durham and Darlington.
The role is supportive of family friendly hours, working predominantly Monday to Friday (day hours, e.g. 08 : 30-16 : 30).
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will have a passion for delivering high quality care to people with bladder and bowel dysfunction. You will be dynamic and caring with excellent communication skills as patient education and support is an important component of the job.
Prior experience in bladder and bowel dysfunction and the promotion of continence is desirable, however, this is an opportunity to develop specialist knowledge and skills. Your professional development will be supported by a mentor and regular clinical supervision.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community-based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Job responsibilities
Assessment and management of patients with bladder and / or bowel dysfunction.
This is a Trust-wide County Durham & Darlington area role performing clinics and home visits, a combination of telephone and face-to-face assessments and reviews. Working autonomously.
This is an exciting secondment opportunity to join the Adult Bladder & Bowel service for a temporary period of 11 months.
