About the role

Starship Child Health has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced senior social worker to work alongside children and their families in a health environment and become part of the dedicated social work team at Starship Child Health.

About the Team / Service / Location

The Paediatric Social Work team covers inpatients and outpatients at Starship and also has a key role at Te Puaruruhau, the Auckland Regional Child Protection team, providing services to the wider Auckland region and supporting the national services at Starship Hospital.

The Paediatric Social Work team provides psychosocial assessment and intervention to support successful adaptation to hospitalisation and diagnosis. We also support people during periods of grief, loss, and relationship support; family violence assessment and intervention, crisis intervention and the management of difficult and complex family situations. Services are provided from Monday to Friday and an on-call weekend service is a critical part of overall service delivery.

About you

The successful applicant will have :

Awareness and capacity to work effectively with multiple ethnicity and cultures

Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team environment

A Social Work qualification recognised by the Social Work Registration Board (SWRB) in New Zealand

SWRB registration and a current APC

Experience in working with children, either in a child protection or health setting

Experience in providing supervision is preferable

Case management experience
