  • About the business :

    The Salvation Army's Bridge Addiction works with tāngata experiencing issues in their lives which cause them to be marginalised from society, including tāngata experiencing addictions to alcohol and drugs.

    The Bridge is committed to embedding a Māori responsiveness and engagement strategy across all of its services, and has created this new position to work across their services in Auckland.

    About the role :

    • The Pou Ārahi will provide strategic and operational cultural leadership, tikanga Māori support and advice to the Wellington Bridge.
    • You will develop strong relationships with iwi / hapū / Māori organisations and strong consultative connections with TSA leaders and staff, and Māori Ministry leaders.
    • You will lead the implementation of Te Ōhākī (the Māori Ministry Strategic Plan) and ensure it's relevant for each centre. This includes the implementation of the national competency framework to support centre leadership in building a culturally competent and responsive workforce across all centres and locations.
    • The Pou Ārahi will also support centre leadership to implement Tiriti-based policies and to develop centre programmes, procedures and practices, focussed on the wellbeing and flourishing of tāngata whenua.
    • The Pou Ārahi is line managed by Pou Ahurea / / Social services National Māori Lead.
    • Person Profile

    • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, in both Te Reo Māori and English
    • Practices whakawhanaungatanga and has good interpersonal skills
    • Demonstrates a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, with a strong understanding of the bicultural relationship between Māori and the Crown, between tāngata whenua and tāngata Tiriti, while working well in a diverse, multicultural environment
    • Ability to teach / facilitate Māori cultural competency training / mentoring
    • The ability to problem solve, use initiative and display sound judgement
    • Proactive, with good personal management skills to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
    • A commitment to the mission and values of The Salvation Army
    • A full driver's licence and your own vehicle (you will be reimbursed for work-related travel)
    • Experience working within a large non-government / community organisation focussed on recovery, health and wellbeing would be advantageous

      This role is permanent part time and hours worked will be 24 hours per week. These hours can be negotiated.

      The starting hourly rate for this role will fall between $40 and $53
