Protection Engineer

OverviewIn this role, you will apply your protection engineering abilities within a team that investigates, scope s, designs, and delivers protection settings projects.

While based in Christchurch or Wellington, you will be part of a diverse and supportive team, with global experience from our technical and project delivery leaders, senior engineers and newly joined graduates.

Responsibilities

Apply protection engineering abilities within a team that investigates, scopes, designs, and delivers protection settings projects.

Learn from Power industry experts delivering engineering solutions across New Zealand and Australia.

Collaborate with team members to deliver projects across renewable energy connections and network resilience upgrades.

Follow Transpower standards and use DigSilent PowerFactory; knowledge of Stationware and Transpower standards is advantageous.

Qualifications and profile

Previous protection settings experience, from consulting or asset owner environments in transmission or distribution.

Ability to understand client project requirements, analyze and problem solve; strong data validation, drawing interpretation, and on-site assessment skills.

Strong communication and report writing skills; able to work collaboratively with engineers and clients; willing to seek input to validate design assumptions.

Relationship-building and a proactive, learning mindset; willingness to develop consulting, project management, and technical expertise, including potential accreditation.

Not suitable for recent graduates; requires relevant protection settings experience.
