Field Operator - Plant Pest | Pleasant Point

The role :

You will take part in large-scale plant pest control projects in some of New Zealand's most remote and iconic landscapes.

You will be using a range of tools and techniques to manage wilding conifers and other pest plants,

contributing directly to the success of each project.

Our crew tackles invasive weeds and wilding conifers across rugged high country ranges and river margins.

We're hands-on, practical, and results-driven, supporting long-term restoration by protecting native biodiversity from invasive pest plants.

Whether deep in the backcountry or out on the river flats, we cover serious ground and take pride in getting things done in all conditions.

This is physically demanding, full-time outdoor work, ideal for those who back their stamina and enjoy working hard as part of a solid team.

Location :

Our team in Pleasant Point frequently travels to operational sites across the South Island, providing the opportunity to experience New Zealand off the beaten track.

In this role, you will be required to stay away for the working week (Mon-Fri), with accommodation and meals provided.

What we're looking for :

Fit and capable of carrying heavy loads over steep terrain

Comfortable working outdoors in all weather

Able to work away from home for the working week

A good communicator with a solid commitment to health and safety

Positive, reliable, and willing to learn

Able to work independently in the field and manage time efficiently

Eligible to work full-time in New Zealand

NZ driver\'s licence with a clean driving record

Able to drive off-road vehicles

Clear criminal record

Desirable but not essential :

Previous experience or qualifications in pest plant control

First Aid Certificate

ATV, LUV, or 4WD qualifications

GrowSafe or Controlled Substance Licence

NZ Firearms Licence

Chainsaw use - NZQA unit standards or related training

Successful candidates must complete a pre-employment assessment, including medical, reference, and criminal background checks, meeting Rentokil Initial's satisfactory criteria.
