This role is a Quality, Patient, Safety Advisor position with Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, based in Taranaki. This role has responsibility for working with clinical services teams to advise, support and enable effective quality and patient safety. The successful applicant will also be involved in leading or supporting core projects and clinical audits.

About the Role

The Quality, Patient, Safety Unit seeks a suitable applicant to advise, support and enable effective quality and patient safety within Health New Zealand, Te Whatu Ora Taranaki hospitals. The successful applicant will be a key part of, or lead, core projects and clinical audits.

Team / Service / Location

Our Quality, patient, safety team consists of : Quality, Patient Safety Advisors and Coordinators; Medication Safety Advisor; Risk Management Advisor; Infection, Prevention and Control Clinical Nurse Specialists.

About You

We are seeking applications from individuals who prioritize quality and patient safety and who want to improve systems for patients and staff.

You will have the opportunity to :

  • Advocate for patients and their whanau / families to access essential health services;
  • Work directly with clinical and non-clinical staff to develop skills in incident and complaints management;
  • Contribute to a culture where patient quality and safety are key priorities;
  • Work within the quality improvement model to effect change;
  • Help facilitate change and improvements within clinical services.

The skills and experience required are detailed in the position descriptions and include :

  • Broad knowledge of healthcare systems and ideally a clinical or similar qualification;
  • Proven application of quality and safety methodologies;
  • Highly developed analytical and critical thinking skills;
  • Ability to work with others in a partnership model;
  • Track record of being able to influence others.
