Fernside School is a thriving kura nestled just outside Rangiora. At the heart of our practice is a commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, where strong whanaungatanga (relationships and connection) guides everything we do. We are seeking an inspiring and dedicated senior leader to join our rārangi kaihautū (leadership team) and guide our fantastic Year 4, 5, and 6 teaching team.

As a key leader, you will be instrumental in shaping the educational journey of our senior students (tuakana). You will champion a rich, localised curriculum that celebrates the unique identity of our community and the bicultural heritage of Aotearoa. This role involves mentoring a team of talented teachers through a culture of mahi tahi (collaboration) and ako (reciprocal learning), fostering a place where every learner can succeed.

We are looking for a leader who :

  • Demonstrates a deep commitment to culturally responsive and relational pedagogy.
  • Upholds the value of whanaungatanga.
  • Guides practice with a restorative and relational approach.
  • Has a track record of successful leadership across a range of school-wide responsibilities.
  • Shows a strong commitment to the wider life of the kura.
  • Is an innovative and reflective practitioner , eager to contribute to a cohesive and supportive leadership team.
