We’re now seeking a dynamic and driven Community Development Officer to lead the growth and delivery of our community football programmes.
Role Purpose
As Community Development Officer, you’ll be the heartbeat of CTFC’s community football operations. You’ll lead programme design and delivery, coach development, and inclusive initiatives across junior, youth, and girls’ football. Working closely with club leadership and volunteers, you’ll foster a vibrant, respectful, and inclusive football culture that reflects our values and vision.
Key tasks and responsibilities :
- Community Football Management
- Act as the key point of contact for all areas of the club’s Community football space.
- Manage all Community Football player registrations in conjunction with the Operations Manager and Admin / Finance Officer.
- Assist the Director of Football and Football Development Officer with team selections.
- Oversee and support volunteer grade managers across all grades (U5–U19) and communicate clearly regarding placements, coach recruitment, and competition entry.
- Ensure each team has appropriate coaches and a team manager.
- Oversee pre-season player placements into appropriate teams.
- Coordinate team entries and placements, grading and regrading, and competition movement throughout the season.
- In conjunction with the Operations Manager, assist in tournament team management and logistics, including finalising team squads and providing information and support for coaches and managers.
- Provide robust pre-season support for community football volunteers (i.e grade managers, coordinators, coaches, players, parents)
- Administer registrations, team setup, invoicing, and programme logistics via Friendly Manager / Xero.
- Maintain accurate databases for players, coaches, meetings, and attendance.
- In conjunction with the Director of Football prepare and complete player and parent handbooks, communications, resources and marketing materials.
- Prepare and manage a yearly community football calendar to include programmes, events, tournaments and community initiatives.
- Liaise with the Operations Manager and Social Media & Marketing Officer to ensure effective promotion of programmes and events.
- In conjunction with the Operations Manager, manage the implementation of matchdays and club events.
- Communicate regularly with all stakeholders.
Community Engagement & Inclusion
Build partnerships with local organisations, schools, and stakeholders to boost participation.Deliver inclusive initiatives such as "Football for All," supporting refugee families and diverse communities.Organise and promote school outreach, football festivals, community events and other grassroots programmes.Regularly gather feedback from players and families to shape programming and improve outcomes.Women’s and Girls Football
Develop a strategy to target the growth and retention of G&W footballDevelop a club equity plan to develop a female friendly club environmentEnsure womens and girls teams and programmes are regularly engaged withSeek regular feedback and suggest areas to improve women’s and girls programmes.Assist the Director of Football on development of female specific coaches and players developmentOrganise and deliver girls specific football festivals / eventsProgramme Management
Plan, manage, and deliver the following programmes : Skills Centre, Fantails, Football in Schools, Community pre-season trainings, 9th Grade Junior festival (July Holidays)Investigate and implement new programme opportunities to enhance football experiences and generate revenue streams.Manage programme budgets with Director of Football and General ManagerEnsure quality and consistency across programme delivery, facilities, coaching, and communication.Ensure all programmes have the gear and equipment required.Coach Education and Development
In conjunction with the Director of Football, develop and implement a club-wide coach education strategy, leveraging support from Mainland Football and NZFProvide coaching support for community teams at trainings and on matchdays.Run coach workshops and informal mentoring sessions for coaches across all community football teams.Support the Director of Football in developing coaches working toward NZF licensing (all levels), guiding them through the qualification process, with a focus on NZF Community Coach DevelopmentObserve sessions and games to provide tailored coaching feedback.Provide and manage coach education materials, resources, and regular learning opportunities.Aid coaches with the use of community coach tools (e.g CoachMate)Ensure consistency across coaching teams in session design and principles of playKey teams / areas of focus :
