We're seeking a high-calibre, experienced finance professional to lead our Finance team. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you’ll play a key role in supporting Council to achieve its vision of being Economically Progressive while ensuring Waipā remains an attractive, affordable, and well-managed district for residents and businesses alike.

In this role, you will :

  • Provide accurate, timely, and insightful financial support to enable effective decision-making and service delivery.
  • Oversee financial reporting, treasury management, system administration, and key control functions.
  • Lead strategic and operational financial planning, ensuring sound financial management both short and long term.
  • Manage the rating function in line with Council policy and legislative requirements.
  • Champion a culture of financial and commercial awareness across the organisation.

About you :

You're a confident and influential finance leader who inspires performance and builds capability within your team. Calm under pressure and clear in your communication, you balance strategic vision with hands‑on delivery. You bring :

  • Proven experience in senior financial management and leadership roles.
  • A track record of producing high-quality financial reports in line with IPSAS (Tier 1).
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly.
  • A CA or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Local government experience would be an advantage, but strong commercial or Big 4 accounting firm experience will also be highly regarded.
