Our Seven Commitments reflect our priorities as a community-focused cultural organisation and an international wildlife conservation science organisation in Aotearoa New Zealand.ResponsibilitiesCare for the Zoo's ectotherms, including reptiles, amphibians, fish and invertebrates, delivering best practice husbandry.Contribute to knowledge through research and publication; help deliver world-class animal habitats and meaningful encounters for ~900,000 annual visitors.Help develop and deliver a portfolio of related conservation programs in the field.Assist in the development of the Zoo's ectotherm section and contribute to conservation efforts both in the zoo and in the field.Work with species including New Zealand taonga such as tuatara, wetapunga and Archey's frog, and with the South East Asian Swamp Forest dome.About youThree years plus professional experience working with relevant taxa.Good understanding of ectotherm husbandry across a broad range of species; aquarist experience is advantageous.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to fit into a busy, technically demanding team.Tertiary qualification in zoology / biology / conservation / animal husbandry.Skills in innovative exhibit design and best practice husbandry.Demonstrated ability to deliver excellent customer service.Commitment to and understanding of the World Zoo Conservation Strategy 2015.Strong organisational skills, creative problem-solving, and a can-do attitude.Interest in and commitment to undertaking conservation field work.Full driving licence; off-road driving experience advantageous.If you have proven relevant animal husbandry experience and a desire to deliver tangible conservation outcomes, this is the opportunity for you to contribute to a dedicated team of zoo professionals.
