  • About the Role
  • The Tauranga Hospital Emergency Department (ED) medical specialist team has grown rapidly over the past few years in response to the growth in population and service demand.

We are committed to delivering excellent regional emergency medicine care for the people of the Bay of Plenty.

  • About the Team / Service / Location
  • Our ED sees a diverse case mix with approximately 60,000 presentations per annum of which 20% is paediatric.

    • The population of the Western Bay of Plenty is continuing to grow rapidly with high numbers of older adults retiring to the Bay alongside growth in industry and commerce attracting younger people and families to relocate to the region.The department is accredited for 24 months ACEM advanced training and has a strong focus on education and development of the emergency medicine, nursing and allied health workforce.

    We also have an active simulation training programme and established on-site links to the Auckland University regional clinical campus.For more information on living and working in the Bay of Plenty

  • About you
  • Applicants should be eligible for MCNZ vocational registration (or within 6 months of completion) and hold FACEM or equivalent (or be time complete with 12 months).

    • In addition, we welcome applicants to develop or build on their areas of particular interest, such as :

  • Subspeciality interests in areas of Emergency Medicine related to Hauora a Toi population needs, i.e., Geriatric acute care, Hauora Maori focused care, acute mental health presentations.
  • Participation in the education and training of Emergency Department clinical team
