About the Role

As a Digital Engineer at the Civil Aviation Authority, you'll play a key role in managing and enhancing our critical systems and infrastructure, ensuring performance, reliability, and security.

You'll install, configure, and monitor servers and networks, automate routine tasks, manage backups, and proactively resolve technical challenges as they arise.

This hands-on role also includes optimizing system performance, maintaining secure storage solutions, and participating in a supportive after-hours roster.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, and monitor servers and network infrastructure.

Automate routine operational tasks and manage backups.

Monitor system performance and security, proactively mitigating issues.

Participate in after-hours roster and support business continuity.

Qualifications

3–5 years experience working with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), using Terraform in critical environments (essential).

Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) certification, with solid experience across systems, networks, or cloud engineering.

Ideally, you'll also hold VMware Certified Professional and ITIL v4 (or equivalent) qualifications.

Demonstrated hands-on experience in a Systems Engineering role.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

A proactive and collaborative approach; you build strong relationships and take initiative to deliver practical, effective solutions.

Willingness to travel to Wellington Airport as required; a full, clean NZ driver's licence is preferred.

Salary

Salary band : $115,536 – $141,751, based on knowledge, skills and experience and internal relativities.

Location

Wellington, New Zealand (Wellington-based, with flexibility for Auckland or Christchurch).
