Lead and shape high-quality editorial services for New Zealand legislation
Are you an experienced editorial leader with a passion for precision and plain language?
We're looking for an experienced Editorial Manager to lead our editorial team and ensure delivery of high-quality legislative editing services.
This is a rare opportunity to influence how law is published and accessed in Aotearoa.
What we do
At the Parliamentary Counsel Office (PCO), we draft and publish legislation for New Zealand.
If the Government wants to create, amend, or repeal a law, we draft the Bill that goes to Parliament and then publish the resulting law on the NZ Legislation website.
Our mission is to make legislation easy to find, use, and understand, serving the people of New Zealand.
Your role
As Editorial Manager, you'll be part of the Access & Digital Services management team, reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive – Access & Digital Services.
You'll inspire and empower a team of skilled editors responsible for Bills, Supplementary Order Papers, and secondary legislation.
Your focus will be on delivering high-quality editorial services, fostering a collaborative team culture, and championing continuous improvement.

What you'll bring
Opportunities like this don't come around often for experienced editorial professionals, so don't miss out!
Our culture
Located across the road from Parliament, PCO offers you a fascinating insight into Aotearoa's legislation.
Our workplace is collaborative and supportive, where diversity is valued and everyone's contribution matters.
As a leader you'll have the opportunity to empower your team, support their growth, and create an environment offering opportunities to develop their skills.
Because we're a smaller organisation you'll have the chance to influence, shape processes, and develop your leadership skills along the way.
We offer flexibility and a supportive culture so you can lead effectively while maintaining balance.
We offer a range of resources to support your wellbeing such as 5 weeks' annual leave, access to fitness opportunities such as the Parliament gym, discounted health insurance, and annual vision and hearing test reimbursement, in-house te reo classes, and more.
