Overview
Northland Regional Council's role is to care for and protect Te Taitokerau Northland's environment and communities.
We work with tangata whenua and communities to protect and restore healthy waters and our native taonga, and to build more resilient communities in a changing climate.
This is a fixed-term, part-time role that supports our Corporate Services group through to the end of June 2026.
This role is part-time, working 22.5 hours per week with flexibility around when those hours are worked.
The focus is in finance support—raising and managing purchase orders, and monitoring incoming invoices.
You will liaise with vendors and internal teams to resolve discrepancies and keep financial processes running smoothly.
There is also an opportunity to support the People and Culture team with administration tasks, such as coordinating meetings, preparing agendas, capturing minutes, and following up on action items to maintain accurate records and a compliant, well-organised environment.
Responsibilities
Finance support : raise and manage purchase orders, monitor invoices, liaise with vendors and internal teams to resolve discrepancies, and maintain smooth financial processes.
General administration : support People and Culture tasks, coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, capture minutes, follow up on action items, and maintain accurate records.
Qualifications
At least three years of experience in a similar business support role.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial systems such as TechOne (or comparable platforms).
Solid understanding of finance processes, including purchase orders and invoice receipting.
General understanding of how business operations tick; experience in a local government setting is a plus.
