Resource Teacher of the Deaf – Franklin

Join our team of educators as a Resource Teacher of the Deaf at Franklin.

This permanent, full-time role is based out of the Pukekohe office and involves supporting DHH students in mainstream and specialist schools across the region.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with mainstream and specialist schools to work closely with DHH students, families, and school staff.

Engage with your assigned caseload, maintaining records and liaising with families and whanau to support student participation and success.

Develop and implement best-practice strategies for DHH learners, using New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) and listening and spoken language practices.

Provide ongoing support to students across the caseload from Manurewa south to Maramarua.

Maintain accurate record-keeping and reporting for student progress.

Qualifications

Qualified Teacher of the Deaf or an experienced NZ registered teacher.

Proven best-practice and experience working with Deaf children and / or mainstream students.

Current, clean driver's licence.

Proficiency or willingness to develop proficiency in NZSL.

Ability to travel within the designated caseload; must reside within easy access to the region.

Additional Information

Use of own car with mileage reimbursed; a lease car may be provided depending on mileage.
