    Mo te turanga | About the roleWe are looking for a Portfolio Manager who can lead DOC's enterprise project and programme portfolio, uplift organisational capability and build a centre of excellence for portfolio management across the organisation.

    • You will provide strategic leadership and oversight of DOC's enterprise-wide portfolio covering programme and project management frameworks, investment governance, assurance, reporting, benefits realisation, and risk management while establishing the Enterprise PMO as a trusted advisory function and central hub for consistency, capability, and best-practice delivery.You will also;
    • Deliver insights and reporting to senior leaders, manage portfolio-level risks, and ensure strong frameworks and benefits management.
    • Lead organisational planning and performance, oversee strategic programmes, resource allocation, and transparent reporting to enable successful delivery.
    • Develop people and capability, mentor a high-performing team and foster an inclusive, collaborative culture that values diverse strengths.
    • Champion Treaty partnership and integrate te ao Maori into portfolio practices and uphold DOC's obligations under Te Tiriti.

    • You will also bring;
    • Depth of experience managing enterprise portfolios or delivering complex programmes.
    • Extensive experience with investment governance, benefits realisation, and PMO leadership.
    • Strong ability to simplify and communicate complex information to senior stakeholders.
    • Skilled in LEAN / P3M methodologies and experienced with Treasury's Better Business Cases.
    • Exceptional stakeholder management across senior levels and is able to influence, negotiate, and guide decision-making in complex environments.
    • Mature, grounded leadership style with high levels of personal resilience.
    • Motivated by public service and DOC's conservation mission.
    • Able to manage competing priorities without losing sight of organisational outcomes.
    • Understanding of te ao Maori, tikanga, and the Crown-Maori relationship.
    • Skilled communicator who can gain engagement across diverse audiences.
    • Effective at working collaboratively across large, complex organisations.
