Te ahua o Te Turunga - Nature of the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Financial & Systems Accountant to join our Strategy, Capability & Performance Group.

This pivotal role is responsible for maintaining the financial integrity of ENZ through effective accounting, robust systems, and accurate reporting.

Responsibilities

As the Financial & Systems Accountant, you will :

Oversee core accounting processes such as month-end close, general ledger and fixed asset management, cash flow forecasting, tax compliance, and financial reporting.

Support audits, maintain banking relationships, and develop tools and processes that enhance ENZ's financial capability.

Nga Tino Pukenga / Wheako - Essential Skills / Experiences

A tertiary qualification in Accounting or Commerce and a CA or CPA.

3–5 years' experience in financial accounting, including general ledger management, reconciliations, and month-end close.

Strong understanding of public sector finance, tax compliance (GST, FBT), and financial regulations.

Proficiency with financial systems (e.g., Business Central, TechOne, Navision) and advanced Excel skills; experience using Power BI for reporting.

Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.

Effective communicator with a collaborative approach to working with internal and external stakeholders.
