Student Support Assistant (Teacher Aide)

Our recently refurbished Gore based campus is seeking to appoint a Student Support Assistant (Teacher Aide) on a fixed term part‑time until December 2026 (20 hours per week, term time only). This role involves working alongside a classroom teacher, on a one‑to‑one basis with individual students, as well as small groups. The role also requires the ability to monitor and gather data and communicate with family and staff.

Experience and Skills Desired

• Recent experience working with school aged children.
• Experience supporting young people with learning challenges.
• Experience applying effective strategies and opportunities for learning.
• An understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum and of different learning methods.
• A good level of digital competency.
• Ability to cater for a student’s varying needs, including implementation of strategies to support development of communication and learning.
• Excellent relationship building and communication skills.
• Patience, resilience, adaptability and empathy.
