ABOUT THE ROLE
We have an exciting opportunity at our Tauranga South Op Shop for two Op Shop Assistants to join us on a fixed term basis until 30 May 2025, part time for 16 hours per week.
Our first role is Op Shop Assistant - Store which is sole charge of the store, on Sundays and Mondays, 9.00 am - 5.00 pm.
Key responsibilities include
- Sole charge of the store working to support daily shop operations.
- Receive, sort, price, and merchandise donated goods in line with SPCA guidelines.
- Ensure the shop is clean, welcoming, and well-stocked throughout the day.
- Serve customers with warmth and professionalism, promoting positive donor and shopper experiences.
- Accurately process sales and cash handling, including end-of-day reconciliation.
- Provide cover and basic team supervision in the manager’s absence.
- Help support and guide volunteers in their roles.
- Ensure health & safety and SPCA procedures are followed.
Our second role is Op Shop Assistant - Driving, collecting and delivering items in our van, and between stores, on Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9.00 am - 5.00 pm.
Key responsibilities include
Drive SPCA vans to pick up and deliver goods to shops and donors across the region.Greet donors and customers professionally, ensuring great service and gratitude.Maintain and care for the van, reporting maintenance needs, keeping it clean, and ensuring it's fuelled.Work closely with shop staff and volunteers to ensure donations are handled properly and respectfully.Plan daily routes and complete all necessary paperwork accurately and on time.Ensure safe loading, unloading, and transport of goods.Follow all road rules, SPCA policies, and Health & Safety procedures.Skills & Experience
Full, clean driver’s licence, class 1 (motor vehicle) and confidence in operating and taking care of basic maintenance of a van (manual and auto)Physically fit and capable of regularly lifting cartons and furniture as this is a daily part of the role.Resilient, positive and people orientated with the ability to relate to team members, customers and donors from diverse backgrounds.Previous experience in goods delivery, courier, removals, or a similar driving role.Route planning ability and able to re prioritise schedule / workload when requiredReliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently.HOW TO APPLY
