Overview

Head of Talent Acquisition @ TVNZ | Bachelor of Commerce

Our vision is to be the number one streamer for trusted news, sport and entertainment. The opportunity is for an experienced and pragmatic content lawyer within the TVNZ Legal team on a 9 month fixed-term contract (4 days a week), reporting to TVNZ’s General Counsel.

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective and efficient legal advisory services on entertainment and sports content rights and acquisitions, commercial partnerships, production arrangements, content licensing and services agreements, and related areas of TVNZ’s business.
  • Offer legal advice and support on intellectual property, content compliance (privacy, defamation, broadcasting and online media law and standards), responsible AI adoption, and other TVNZ projects as required.
  • Assist in ensuring TVNZ’s legal rights and obligations are clearly understood by providing proactive risk management and advising on compliance with relevant obligations and legislation.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Relevant experience in a law firm or in-house legal advisory role in media and / or production.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating contracts with a content focus; ability to provide pragmatic, solution-focused and commercial legal advice on content productions and content compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to have a high impact in a short time frame.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to present information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to establish and develop effective working relationships with peers, managers and staff.
  • Strong planning and organising skills with the ability to deliver accurate results to deadlines.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills with lateral thinking.
  • Commitment to continual process improvement and challenging the status quo.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the entertainment / media / production / music industry and digital rights is advantageous.

    • Education & Professional Membership

  • At least 4+ years of experience.
  • PQE / LLB degree and current practicing certificate.
  • Member of NZ Law Society.
