About Te Awa Lakes
Schick Civil Construction is honoured to be a head contractor partner for the Te Awa Lakes development, a signature master‑planned community in the Waikato region.
Highlights include :
- The development is located on a 90-100 hectare (approx.) green‑field site at Horotiu, on the northern gateway of Hamilton City.
- On completion, the community is expected to deliver around 2,500 homes , housing maybe 5,000+ residents.
- The development will include residential (medium density through to premium), mixed‑use aspects – village centre, retail, recreation, lakes / river access, tourism / leisure precinct.
- The site incorporates landscaped lakes, strong connections to the Waikato River, the Te Awa cycleway and regional growth infrastructure.
- The development is identified as a "fast‑track" project by the government to accelerate resource consents and delivery.
- It offers the rare opportunity to be part of a "once in a generation" build as the region’s first large‑scale master‑planned riverside community.
Key Responsibilities
Lead project planning, scheduling, resourcing and monitoring for major civil / infrastructure build and residential / commercial components.Oversee earthworks, site infrastructure (roads, lakes, utilities), residential build blocks, mixed‑use precinct works.Manage budgets, cost control, change management, risk management (develop and maintain risk register matrix).Lead a high‑performing project team including subcontractors, consultants, stakeholders and internal Schick teams.Ensure compliance with consents, health & safety (site JSEA, IR02 forms, etc), environmental / iwi / mana‑whenua commitments and quality assurance.Attend and contribute to DCG meetings.Develop and run tender packages.Provide regular reporting to senior leadership, the client / developer team and external stakeholders.Champion continuous improvement, innovation and alignment with our company mission : Deliver excellence.Promote a collaborative culture that reflects our purpose : Benefit to all who contribute.Essential Experience & Skills
Proven track record (minimum 10 years) as Project Manager or Senior Project Manager on large‑scale civil or mixed‑use developments.Strong experience in master‑planned communities or large greenfield developments is highly desirable.Excellent budget, schedule and risk management capability.Skilled at stakeholder management including iwi / mana whenua, local councils, developers and multi‑discipline teams.High integrity, results‑driven, organised, strong communicator, aligned to our values.Ability to lead and inspire teams, drive "The Schick Way" culture of excellence and continuous improvement.Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent, with registrations or memberships desirable.What’s in it for you
