    Oranga Tamariki is a nationwide organisation with around 5,000 employees working in a 24 / 7 operation under a variety of employment agreements. We’re looking for a Payroll Manager to lead our payroll function and take it to the next level.

    You’ll be responsible for :

  • Driving continuous improvement in payroll services, processes, and systems.
  • Leading and supporting a high-performing team to deliver accurate, proactive payroll services.
  • Managing BAU while planning and implementing strategic projects.
  • Identifying risks and opportunities early and developing solutions that enable positive business outcomes.
  • Our payroll function was established three years ago and is based in Wellington. The team is thriving, and we need a leader who can provide stability, guidance, and growth opportunities .

  • Proven payroll expertise in a complex operational environment.
  • Experience driving projects and championing continuous improvement.
  • Strong leadership skills with a collaborative, empowering approach.
  • A sound understanding of current NZ employment and payroll legislation and HR practices.
  • A demonstrated understanding and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi;
  • An understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural issues and a knowledge of tikanga Māori and Pacific people's culture.
  • Ability to balance operational accuracy with strategic thinking.
  • Experienced, confident, and credible at building strong relationships both internally and externally at all levels of the organisation, collaborating effectively with all stakeholders;

    Oranga Tamariki offer a step based remuneration package, that offers progression annually for experience through tenure. Annual remuneration for this position starts between $147,010 and $162,887 dependant on experience.
