Teacher – Y9 homeroom focus
Tamatea High School, Napier full-time, permanent | starting term 1,
Tamatea High School is seeking an inspiring and proactive teacher to lead a Y9 homeroom class, supporting students as they transition into secondary school with confidence, connection, and purpose.
This role is central to delivering a broad and engaging junior curriculum that builds strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and authentic learning.
You will lead a classroom culture defined by whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, and high expectations for all learners, ensuring every akonga is challenged, supported, and celebrated.
The successful applicant will also play a key role in pastoral care, building strong relationships with akonga and whanau to strengthen engagement and wellbeing across the Year 9 cohort.
We are looking for a teacher who :
Creates inclusive, culturally responsive, and high-impact learning experiences
Builds positive, trusting relationships with students and whanau
Uses evidence and reflection to enhance outcomes for all learners
Contributes collaboratively to school-wide improvement and innovation
Acurrent NZ Teaching Council Practising Certificate is required.
Experience in teaching at the junior secondary level is preferred.
