As a Nursing Officer, you will work in diverse practice areas both domestically and abroad. These include primary health care, perioperative, high dependency, surgical, and emergency nursing. Flexibility is essential due to the varied military operations you may support.

Job on Base
Nursing Officers are stationed at all military camps and bases nationwide, predominantly in the Manawatu region. Responsibilities include clinical practice, military skills maintenance, leadership, and administration.
You will work in team-based settings, whether within a multidisciplinary health team or alongside military personnel from other trades. As an officer, you are expected to work independently in resource management, personnel administration, and training planning.
Job on Deployment
Nursing Officers support operational readiness by assisting exercises and deploying overseas for operational, humanitarian, or disaster relief missions.
Deployment locations vary, with opportunities to serve wherever the NZ Defence Force operates, including overseas deployments and humanitarian missions.
Duration : 12 weeks at Waiouru Military Camp
Initial training begins in early January, involving a mix of Regular Force and Reserve Force Officer Cadets. Training is divided into three modules; attendance at all modules is required for Regular Force Cadets, while Reserve Cadets attend Modules One and Three.
Earn a salary during training, with additional allowances for field, sea, overseas, or operational deployment activities.
