Job description

Join a market-leading provider of open space, environmental, and landscape services with operations across New Zealand and Australia.

If you come from an estimating, commercial management, or tender pricing background, and love being at the heart of major contract wins, this is your seat at the table.

What You'll Be Doing

This is a key commercial role, responsible for owning and evolving our pricing strategy across tenders, contracts, and strategic projects.

You'll work at the intersection of finance, operations, and bids—partnering with stakeholders across the business to produce sharp, competitive, and financially sound pricing models that win work and protect margin.

It's more than just spreadsheets.

You'll be :

Be the commercial brains behind our bids—leading the pricing response on tenders, major contracts, and strategic pursuits.

Collaborate with Bid Managers, Ops Leaders, and SMEs to build compelling, competitive pricing models.

Conduct investment appraisals, scenario modelling, and margin risk analysis to support bid decisions.

Present financials in a clear, commercially strategic way to senior leaders.

Own and evolve our pricing policy—making sure it's competitive, consistent, and commercially sound.

Monitor market trends, cost drivers (labour, fuel, materials), and competitor behaviour to keep us ahead of the curve.

Develop pricing tools and rate models that empower teams to quote with speed and accuracy.

Rates Library Ownership

Maintain a dynamic, fit-for-purpose rates database—labour, plant, materials, overheads, markups—ensuring relevance and accuracy.

Update rates in line with market changes (e.g. CPI, supplier pricing), and make sure the business is quoting off the right numbers.

Build models to assess the viability of new opportunities, service models, or capital investments.

Conduct sensitivity and break-even analysis to inform key decisions.

Deliver clear commercial recommendations to the executive team.

Stakeholder Partnership

Become the go-to commercial voice for pricing—trusted by bid, finance, and ops teams alike.

Coach internal stakeholders on pricing strategy, bid structures, and financial drivers.

Help create a commercially intelligent culture across the business.

What You'll Bring

4–5+ years' experience in a pricing, commercial, or estimating role (ideally within construction, infrastructure, services, or similar).

Academic / professional background in accounting and finance is useful but not essential.

Strong understanding of pricing for contracts / tenders and commercial risk assessment.

Advanced Excel skills and the ability to build custom pricing models and tools.

Commercial acumen : you understand not just what numbers say, but what they mean for margin, competitiveness, and long-term success.

Confident communicator, comfortable influencing across departments and levels.

Bonus points for experience with ERP or pricing systems and bid / tender experience in services or infrastructure.

Why Join?

This is a rare opportunity to shape commercial outcomes in a business where pricing is front and centre.

You''ll work closely with senior leadership, have influence across high-value deals, and help drive strategy from behind the scenes.

If you''re an estimator, pricing analyst, or commercially-minded operator ready to step into a strategic role, you''ll thrive here.
