We’re looking for a Commercial Manager to lead strategic technology procurement across Chorus’ Chief Technology Office.

This is a pivotal role for a commercially astute professional with deep expertise in technology sourcing and supplier strategy. You’ll lead the development and execution of commercial strategies across a broad technology portfolio, including software, hardware, cloud services, and professional services, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technology roadmaps.

You’ll lead complex negotiations, manage contract lifecycles, and share market insights that inform strategic decisions. With a strong emphasis on strategic thinking, value creation, and risk management, this role suits someone who enjoys influencing outcomes and translating commercial strategy into effective delivery. A key part of the role involves drafting and reviewing contracts to ensure they reflect strategic intent, mitigate risk, and support business outcomes.

While deep experience in technology procurement is essential, exposure to broader categories (e.g. property or corporate services) is highly valued. This versatility will enable you to collaborate across other areas of Chorus beyond the Chief Technology Office, as and when needed.

Your day-to-day will span :

  • Leading the development and execution of strategic sourcing initiatives, including market exercises and competitive tenders.
  • Shaping negotiation strategies and partnering in complex commercial negotiations with technology suppliers.
  • Sharing insights on market dynamics, cost drivers, and supplier positioning to inform commercial strategy.
  • Drafting and reviewing commercial contracts to ensure alignment with strategic objectives, business requirements, and risk mitigation.
  • Coordinating with legal, financial, and technical stakeholders to support contracting and deal execution.
  • Managing high-value contract renewals and proactively overseeing supplier lifecycle events.
  • Resolving commercial disputes in a way that protects business interests and supports long-term outcomes.
  • Contributing to capability uplift across procurement, negotiation, and commercial strategy.

Here’s what you’ll bring :

  • Proven experience in strategic technology procurement, with a strong understanding of sourcing across software, hardware, cloud, and professional services.
  • A track record of leading complex commercial negotiations and securing strategic outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement sourcing strategies that deliver commercial value and effectively manage risk.
  • Expertise in drafting, reviewing, and managing commercial contracts, including renewals and dispute resolution.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen to support planning, budgeting, and supplier performance management.
  • Ability to quickly absorb complex business and technology information and translate it into actionable commercial strategies.
  • A collaborative and confident approach, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and constructively challenge to drive outcomes.
  • Experience across broader procurement categories, such as property, corporate services, or indirect spend, is a valuable bonus, adding versatility to support wider business needs.
