We are looking for a strong, experienced practitioner who brings a calm, consistent approach and enthusiasm to our school. A passion for structured & explicit teaching, pastoral care, a problem solving mentality and the ability to pitch in and collaborate will be important.
The advertised fixed-term position is for term 1–2 initially, though could be extended if circumstances allow.
As this role is primarily to release our kaiako for CRT (classroom release time), we will consider applicants who are comfortable teaching across year groups and learning phases. An ability to be flexible and respond in the moment to changes to the programme is an essential aspect of this role.
Each class will likely have ākonga who need support via their I.E.P. and, depending on the class, there may be a learning assistant and a specialist teacher who work alongside ORS-funded students.
As a small school, we each wear many hats! You might also have an enthusiasm for one or more of these things : te reo Māori, music, digital technologies, EnviroSchools or the library.
Our kura is positioned at the head of Whakaraupō | Lyttelton Harbour and nestled at the base of the Port Hills; we take inspiration from our stunning natural environment and our cultural narrative and pūrakau from Ngāti Wheke.
