Job Description

We’re looking for a sharp, hands-on H&S Specialist to lead a cross-functional project that will shape how we manage Dangerous and Hazardous Goods (DG / HG) across our entire supply chain.

This is a unique opportunity to work across the buy, move, and sell functions - mapping processes end-to-end, embedding compliant and safe practices, rebuilding team capability and understanding across the full lifecycle and helping us move from reactive compliance to proactive risk management.

Quick rundown of the role :

  • Lead the development of a full end to end process map for all DG / HG products covering sourcing, transport, storage and sale.
  • Identify and classify hazardous substances in line with GHS7 and EPA 2025 updates.
  • Ensure alignment with WorkSafe NZ and international standards, including documentation of classifications, limits, and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with operational teams to develop and embed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and planograms that ensure safe and compliant handling of DG / HG products.
  • Roll out improved controls, signage, and storage protocols across stores and DCs.
  • Establish and maintain a review and audit process for hazardous substance management to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Design and deliver training for team members across buy, move, and sell functions to build awareness and capability in DG / HG compliance.
  • Work closely with H&S, Quality, Commercial, and Store Operations teams to clarify ownership, roles, and responsibilities across the DG / HG process.

  • Strong working knowledge of Dangerous Goods regulations (NZ and international).
  • Experience in process mapping, compliance auditing, and training delivery.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and manage complex stakeholder environments.
  • Familiarity with SDS management systems and regulatory reporting.
  • An ability to deliver at pace in a complex and ever changing environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to convey complex ideas
