About our client

Waitaha Primary Health (WPH) supports around 111,000 enrolled patients across Canterbury through a network of general practices and community providers. We work closely with Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora and other partners deliver innovative, equitable, and high-quality primary care services. Our purpose is simple - to enable better health outcomes for our communities through informed, data-driven decision making. Waitaha is continuing to expand and grow and the Data Analyst will play a pivotal role in supporting this expansion.

About the role

We're looking for a skilled and insightful Data Analyst to join our team and turn information into impact. You'll be part of our Senior Management Team support function, collaborating with clinical and operational leaders to deliver data insights that guide service delivery, quality improvement, and strategic decision‑making.

Responsibilities

  • Collecting, analysing, and interpreting data to inform organisational planning and reporting.
  • Developing dashboards, visualisations, and performance reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensuring the integrity, privacy, and compliance of all health data systems.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives through accurate insights and evaluation.
  • Enhancing data systems and tools that support efficient, evidence‑based decision‑making.

What you'll Bring

  • A tertiary qualification in Data Science, Statistics, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years' experience in data analysis, reporting, or business intelligence (ideally within health or the public sector).
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, Power BI, SQL, and other data visualisation tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills - able to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • A collaborative, curious mindset and a commitment to equity and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
  • (Experience with R, Python, or health datasets such as PHO Performance Programme, NMDS, or PRIMHD would be an advantage).
